Software Test Engineer

On joining Lighthouse Systems as a Software Test Engineer, you'll receive first-class experience  working on innovative and exciting projects coupled with having the constant support and guidance from our experienced Development team.   Our aim is to build a team to rigorously test our product, to ensure it meets the high standards we set ourselves.

Testing can require some diplomacy as your job is to be creative in finding new ways of breaking the product, but you’ll work closely with the product development team to ensure together we ship outstanding systems.  It can be pressured sometimes, especially as we have a release quarterly with a beta release every 4 weeks.

As our product runs in more than a dozen languages, you’ll need a keen eye to help ensure the product runs consistently whatever the language or user platform.

Not only that at Lighthouse you’ll be working with modern technologies and influence future testing strategy

We have big goals to transform the testing of the product over the coming years.

You’ll get to work with technologies like …

  • HTML5 and JSON – our application is a single-page browser application utilising modern web stack components. Whilst we won’t expect you to be an expert, you’ll get to review and understand our product written in C#, TypeScriptBackbone and SQL.
  • Microsoft Test Manager in TFS – you’ll be building up detailed test plans from requirements and acceptance criteria to validate delivery
  • TFS and GIT – we use Microsoft Team Foundation Server (Azure DevOps Server) for tracking change requests and defects so you’ll be using this to review changes and bugs and look through code changes in Git Repo Pull Requests
  • Selenium – you’ll help to develop a set of automated regression tests to streamline our release process
  • SQL Server and Oracle – the application works off  a SQL Server or Oracle database, so you’ll be writing SQL from time to time to verify content and results

… as well as building up your knowledge of manufacturing processes that exercise the product so you test from the user perspective.

Plus you’ll be working as part of a SCRUM team so will be involved in daily stand-ups and the planning, reviews and retrospectives we do each Sprint. Critically you’ll be part of the QA team that decides whether we can release our code.

If this sounds of interest to you and you have good analytical skills, an attention to detail, good communication skills and a great attitude then please send you CV and covering letter to [email protected]
