Sponsored by the Gatwick Diamond Initiative, the finalists for the 'International Business of the Year' category of the Gatwick Diamond Business Awards have been announced. They are: JAOtech; Lighthouse Systems Ltd and Tetreon Technologies Ltd. The winning company will collect their award from comedian Rory Bremner in front of an audience of over 600 guests at an Awards Dinner on 22nd March.
The judges had a tough decision on their hands, as the International Business Award category attracted strong contenders. Judge and sponsor Rosemary French, Executive Director of the Gatwick Diamond Initiative, said "The Gatwick Diamond Initiative encourages businesses to capitalise further and faster on growth through international activity, which is exemplified by the shortlisted companies' success."
Based in Washington, West Sussex, Tetreon Technologies Ltd designs, develops and manufactures furnace equipment and associated services including installation, commissioning and process development. Tetreon currently exports to locations in Europe, Asia and North America, with recent expansion into China and India. "The judges were particularly impressed by the fact that Tetreon consistently exported more than 90% of its turnover, with 2011-12 showing a 50% increase in exports," said Rosemary. "Tetreon's vision, sound understanding of the global market and ability to develop a strategy to respond to a rapidly changing environment is to be commended."
Redhill-based JAOtech manufactures specialist medical grade computers to bring electronic medical records and multimedia entertainment to hospital patient bedsides. The company's exports have dominated its business since its inception and 70% of its installed base is overseas. "The business has demonstrated an impressive ability to innovate by constantly updating its technology as the market has changed or demanded new functionality," commented Rosemary. "JAOtech's current product is the fourth generation in five years."
Lighthouse Systems Limited, the third finalist in the category, is based in Crawley and has developed a software product named Shopfloor-Online™, used by manufacturing companies to support manufacturing operations in factories, allowing them to improve performance, quality and traceability. "Lighthouse's software is currently deployed in 35 countries, demonstrating the international focus of its business," said Rosemary. "Lighthouse has produced an impressive product with a huge versatility that is being well received by major global companies and its innovation impressed the judges."
